23.3.3 REGENERATE-AUTH

Action REGENERATE-AUTH can be used to reproduce in reusable form the permission classes assigned to various AMO actions. The output consists of CHANGE-AUTH commands for the AMO actions affected.

To control the kind of output produced one has an optional parameter called TYPE whose default setting for action REGENERATE-AUTH restricts output to those AMO actions whose permission class differs from its standard value (TYPE=DELTA). This is because it is in general sufficient for restoring a previous state after an upgrade or a software transport to regenerate only the permissions which have been changed with respect to their standard value. One should not be surprised if no output line appears here — it only means that all affected AMO actions are currently set to their default permission class.

Here too the symbols ALL and STD are available for parameter TYPE: entering TYPE=ALL lets the current permssion class assignments be reproduced without restrictions, whereas TYPE=STD lets the standard permission class settings be reproduced without any consideration for their current state.

The parameters AMO and ACTION are also optional. If parameter AMO is not specified, all AMOs will be processed and the affected actions reproduced. If parameter ACTION is not specified, all actions of the affected AMOs will be reproduced. If both parameters are entered however, exactly one¹ line of output is generated in form of a CHANGE-AUTH command containing the AMO name, the action verb and the with the corresponding permssion class.

Attention: The reading of hard disk data and their subsequent processing may take up to two minutes.

The examples given for DISPLAY-AUTH could well be repeated here. The only difference is that for REGEN-AUTH the default assignment is TYPE=DELTA instead of TYPE=ALL.

Reproducing the current permission class for AMO action ADD-USER:

REGEN-AUTH:USER,ADD,ALL;

Reproducing the permission classes for exactly those actions of AMO USER whose permission class differs from the respective standard permission class:

REGEN-AUTH:USER;

Reproducing the CHANGE-AUTH commands necessary to set the permission classes to their default settings for the ADD actions of all AMOs that possess such an action:

REGEN-AUTH:,ADD,STD;

Reproducing all permission class assignments for all AMO actions for which these permissions have been changed with respect to their standard settting:

REGEN-AUTH;

with TYPE=DELTA at most one
