87.3.1
START-DUP
Copying (with or without verification) a source device on a destination device .
Notes
If a further partition (e.g. Linux) is to be found on the hard disk, the operator must quit this state. That question can be supressed by specifying the WARN parameter.
If the controller 1 as source device will be copied, it must be deactivated too, in order to prevent a parallel accesses.
Warning: During copying the hard disk (controller 1) device as source device, no operation message will be stored (CGD, Hista).
From this reason, before duplication of the device with active :PDS: the switch (or SWU unit) should be switched off (or if it is not possible, start the duplication over night).
Only devices with same sector sizes can be duplicated.
Possible combinations:
•
HD/CF/MO540->HD/CF/MO540,
•
MO1.3 ->MO1.3
Not possible combinations:
•
MO1.3 -> HD/CF/MO540,
•
HD/CF/MO540 -> MO1.3
Only used sectors of source device will be duplicated (sectors which belongs to sector ranges of partitions in partition table).
for example: on 250 GB hard disk are only ~40 GB used, and therefore is possible duplication of this device to one 40 GB hard disk.
The source and destination devices must match the specified mnemotechnical name definitions (SDEV and DDEV). The structure of mnemotechnical names is:
:uudc1:
uu
=
Must be the same as the value specified for UNIT.
Possible Values:
A1 for ADS
d
=
Device
Possible Values:
H for hard disk,magneto-optical disk or compact flash
c
=
Controller number
Possible Values:
1 to 7
The colons are optional in the mnemotechnical names.
If the source device is larger than the destination the AMO DUP terminates abnormally with status H’002B. This message does not indicate clearly if an error has occured during the duplication, or the destination device has insufficient space. In the second case all that areas of the destination device can be used, that were completly copied.This information can only be found in the dependability message.
If the end of the memory on the destination device is reached, the following dependability message will be displayed:
F7406 M4 N0016 NO ACT A1 DRIVE IO ERROR 01-04-09 10:42:53
ALARM CLASS:SM-PER: 018
DRIVE:<destination device>
FORMAT:11
7F97000000xxxxxxxxxx020521xxxxxx xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx
02: SCSI Status, 02 = Check Condition
05: Sense Key, 05 = Illegal Request
21: Additional Sense Code, 21 = Logical Block
Address out of Range
If a different message is output, it must be regarded as a real error message, and the duplication must be repeated (possibly with a different destination medium).

START-DUP
[UNIT=<param>],SDEV=<string>,DDEV=<string>,[TEST=<param>],[WARN=<param>],[ANS=<param>];
Example
1.
Duplicate a hard disk and compare source and destination device contents on completion. The device name will be entered without ’:’.
Input:
START-DUP:A1,A1H11,A1H21,A,Y,Y,N,N;
2.
Duplication of RMX partition only without comparison (verify).
