185.3.3 DELETE-SYNCA

This command is used to delete entries from the announcement type table and/or the announcement matrices, or even from announcement matrices as a whole. Before deleting an announcement type from the announcement type table, the user must ensure that the entry to be deleted has no interrelationships with an announcement matrix and/or the announcement type table (e.g. chained announcements).

Interrelationships can be resolved either by explicitly deleting the entry from the respective matrix or by concealing the interrelationship when specifying the announcement type table. In this case, the AMO issues an advisory for each matrix which still contains the announcement type in question. It then prompts the user to confirm whether the delete operation should be continued or aborted. If the user chooses to continue the operation, first the matrices and then the announcement type table are purged. If he aborts the delete operation, all entries will be retained while the announcement type itself is deactivated. The entry format SEL=ANNTYPE lends itself very well to this end.

An announcement type cannot be deleted as long as an announcement device is still assigned. All relevant TMOM devices with this announcement type must be deleted first!

If all parameter values are explicitly specified, only the selected entry will be deleted in each case. If optional parameters are missing, this means that all entries within the valid index ranges are to be deleted.

Examples

Delete announcement type 25 from the announcement matrix with company index.

Note: All entries for the specified announcement type are deleted immediately
without notifying the user.

Note: In this case, the AMO prompts the user to confirm the delete command
if there is still an interrelationship between the announcement type and a matrix.
