A sector is a section of a customer network defined at the network planning stage which is regarded in the framework of the resource management.
A sector can be assigned to either a gateway or an arbitrary section in the IP network. It is left to the user which physical equipment in the network combine to form a sector. In order not to complicate the administration, it is reasonably large, summarizing broadband sections and concentrating itself on particularly resource weak sections (e.g. narrowband connections in the WAN).

Sector definitions

  • LAN sectors are sectors with unlimited bandwidth
  • WAN sectors have a limited bandwidth and connect the LAN sectors
  • Gateway (GW) sectors are sectors in HG 3570/3575
