11.1. Access Point Emergency Feature Description Previous topic Parent topic Child topic Next topic

The Access Point Emergency feature lets you maintain operation of Access Points/OpenScape 4000 SoftGates irrespective of whether or not the central system is available.
Options for operating access points/OpenScape 4000 SoftGates from additional, physically separable control systems are provided for this purpose. These additional control systems (survivability units) can be mounted in each AP 3700 IP access point.
In principle, you can control all access points/OpenScape 4000 SoftGates associated with a OpenScape 4000 system from a single survivability unit (depending on the survivability unit’s processor performance). Most of these scenarios avoid the use of “classic“ shelves with a TDM connection and only use IPDA access points or OpenScape 4000 SoftGates.
In the case of the "Survivable OpenScape 4000 SoftGate" feature, the survivability unit is implemented as software on the OpenScape 4000 SoftGates hosts. The survivability unit takes over the operation of its own OpenScape 4000 SoftGate if the central controller fails (e.g. through loss of the IP connection to the central control unit).
We have the following environment:
OpenScape 4000 platform, which is the host for the follwoing virtual machines (VM):
  • VM ADP, CCA, CCB, CCAP (RMX)
  • VM Assistant
  • VM CSTA
