Parameter Description
The AMO APS has the task of transferring program systems (PS) in the program library (PGLIB) onto the hard disk area ":PDS:".
The program systems may be supplied on cartridge or on Digital Audio Tape (DAT), or may already have been copied by remote administration and maintenance onto a hard disk area by means of file transfer.
If the supplied subsystems (SUSY) are already on the HD, all required files (SUSY and DIR) are stored under a uniform prefix (e.g. ":AMD:FBT/FCOR/L10/.......").
Since the PGLIB must be handled with special care, the AMO APS first runs a series of test functions before the actual copy procedure takes place.
The AMO APS also provides information on the status of the PS and individual subsystems (SUSY) in the PGLIB.
The supplied customer program system contains two or more DIR files, which are on a single data carrier. The actual subsystems (SUSY) may be contained on two or more data carriers.
There is no follw-up-tape-processing in the sense of relevant standards for cartridge respectively DAT. Only the individual filenames of the subsystems indicate whether the proper DAT or cartridge is applied.
By comparing the supplied DIR files with the DIR files on the HD, a compatibility check is made to determine whether copying is worthwhile or at all possible.
In addition, the SUSY supplied on one or more data carriers and named in the DIR files are copied onto the HD.
The accesses to the Program Library must be coordinated, to guarantee the consistency and the correctness of the informations about the PGLIB.
This coordination is managed by an entry into the system catalog. Does this entry already exist the AMO APS will interrupt with the following message:
PROGRAMM LIBRARY IS AT THE MOMENT IN USE.
PARALLEL ACCESS NOT POSSIBLE.
Furthermore the AMO APS can handle program systems, which are on a HD-area with a logical name unequal :PDS:.
The wanted logical name can be named by the parameter ’DESTDEV’.
If there is no value for ’DESTDEV’ given then the default value is :PDS:.
