20.3.3 REGENERATE-ASSGN

Regenerate the device assignments for the following:

•

Standard device assignment table for external connections (SATEC)

•

Standard device assignment table for internal connections (SATIC)

The regeneration of the session-specific device assignment table (SCT) is not practical, because the SCT is a temporary table which is deleted after the session is ended.

Notes

Contrary to the function DISPLAY, the symbolic device DIALOG is output only for the SATIC during REGENERATE because the assignment of a logical device to the symbolic device DIALOG in the function CHANGE is permitted only for SATIC.
If the length of a CFILE cannot be determined for the REGENERATE action, then the value "64000" is output (not "???" as for DISPLAY) for this file. In addition, the advisory message H6 is output in order to show that the standard value has been subsituted for the real value.
