General
The Memory Displayer is a tool which allows the system specialist to read and also to modify the contents of various predefined and/or specified memories at the service terminal.
The AMO DISPA controls the communication to the terminal. Without the AMO, the Displayer cannot execute its tasks, since the AMO is used for displaying the memory contents read by the Displayer at the service terminal, and the Displayer tasks themselves are started via the terminal.
The Displayer is an online test tool which can be used for component integration and system tests, by field technicians and customers.
The AMO DISPA contains the following features:
•
Output of memory contents as a hexadecimal dump in a logical level operation (e.g. for all memories specified in the AMO with name, address and array dimensions).
•
Creation of user-specific, logical memory definitions for any given memory address, even as a table.
•
Optional storage of the addresses and array dimensions for further memories defined by the user either in the AMO work area (available only during AMO execution), in the save area of the resident Displayer task in each processor (restart-safe), or in a hard disk save area (reload-safe).
•
Changing the memory contents in a logical level operation (contents of memories, whose names, addresses and array dimensions must be specified by the user in the AMO).
•
Displaying and changing memory contents in a logical level operation (core image of a memory whose name, offset address and array dimensions have been defined in the AMO).
Limits of the Memory Displayer
The Displayer cannot and should not replace the functions of the debugger. It should rather be considered as an addition geared towards pin-point and problem-oriented diagnosis.
Note
For the SWU memories, the DISPS tool is available, which functions analogously to this AMO (see DISPS AMO-description).
