Parameter Description
The AMO DLSM is used for allocating up to 8 logical area names to a data storage area.
The logical area name must be unique in the system. If more than one logical area exists with the same logical area name in this system, this can lead to a soft restart when the system attempts to activate the areas. The AMO only checks the logical area name assignments to the specified UNIT.
EXCEPTION: The logical area name :PDS: can be added twice for the area ’E’ on different controller, in the same unit, but only once per contoller. By deleting, in case logical name :PDS: is added twice in the same unit, it will be deleted only that logical name :PDS: which corresponds to a not active area.
Exception: UW7-UNIX (used in Unity) stores its data in own partitions (AMO
DDSM
).
’PHY’-areas used by UNIX in previous variants will only be activated physically and will contain no NAMED FILES, either.
A logical area name beginning with "PHY" may not be added to an area with pair allocation.
If the area is subsequently activated by means of the AMO
DSSM
, the user can access the files of the area by using the logical area name allocated with this AMO.
