152.2.1
COPY-PRODE
With the COPY function a complete protocol variant combination description (PVCD) or an individual protocol description (PD) can be loaded from the hard disk. The list of PVCDs and PDs on the hard disk can be displayed with the aid of the DISPLAY function.
When a PVCD is copied, the table of variants (VARTAB) in the database is initialized and all the PDs required for the PVCD are loaded. A maximum of 14 PDs can be used in a PVCD. The loaded PDs are activated automatically.
When individual PDs are copied, either an already loaded PD can be overwritten or free space can be searched or assigned for the PD. When an individual PD is loaded, it is deactivated.
This function makes it easier to set up a new protocol, assuming that only a relatively small amount of data has to be changed with respect to an existing PD.
If, during copying of an individual PD, a destination (parameter PDNAME) is specified, and if this is used or activated, a corresponding advisory is issued.
Note
After an individual PD has been copied, the CHANGE command for activation of the PD must be entered in order to set the active bit and to make the protocol available to CP. The command for activating the PD is: ’CHANGE-PRODE:PD,<pdname>,ORG,,Y;’ .
