Definition of Terms
Trace objects are:
•
Messages that are exchanged between tasks
•
LAN data of the various LAN layers
•
Dynamic memories addressable on a message-dependent basis
•
Dynamic memories at call gates, addressable on a user-dependent basis.
Trace points are
locations in the software at which the tracer is called.
The tracer offers extensive options for selection criteria. There is a
selection table
for each trace point.
The selection table for a trace point contains the conditions which must be fulfilled by a message or a LAN object in order to be stored in the trace buffer by the tracer.
Typical, most frequently used selection criteria in a message are for example:
•
Byte 0 destination task
•
Byte 1 source task
•
Byte 4 event code
The selection table contains also "conditional conditions". During the trace process these conditions control a specific manipulation of the selections which depends on the content of the message.
