After cancellation, the status entry for the servers concerned is reset to "FREE". This is an important prerequisite for a successful start of the AMOs GENDB and REGEN. If Status = RESERVED, the user can simply cancel the reservation. The necessary parameters for the DELETE action are the entries for the reserved AMO, which the user can interrogate with the DISPLAY action (LIST=LONG).
If current entries are present (status neither FREE, RESERVED nor NOTPRSNT) and if a reservation has been made (RESERVE=Y for LIST=LONG), then a complete cancellation can only be undertaken in two steps: first the current entries must be cancelled, then the reservation entries. If Status = RES, then the AMO for which the reservation was made may be started directly without requiring the status to be reset to FREE.
Since the update of entries in the VEGAS file only takes place when the DISPLAY action of the AMO is started, the user must always call the DISPLAY action before starting the DELETE action. If the system number in the database has changed since the last VEGAS update (e.g. due to a generating run with the AMO
GENDB), then this new number will not have been updated in the VEGAS file, without which the server status cannot be reset to FREE.
