207.2 Alarm Groups

Central SWU ( max. 64; alarm nos. 0-63 ) alarms are used to indicate faults in common or shared HW components in the system (e.g. failure of redundant SWU hardware).
By default, central alarms are preset by the system. There are central alarms for the SWU (administered by the AMO VADSU), and central alarms for the ADS and the servers (administered by the AMO VADSM). The AMO VADSU can only be used to change threshold values and validation times.
The table below refers only to the central alarms used in the SWU (all other types of alarm are either not used or administered by the AMO VADSM).

Peripheral SWU alarms

Peripheral SWU alarms (up to 32; alarm nos. 0 to 31) are used to indicate faults in the SWU periphery. So-called ’aggregate’ alarms cover faults in in all terminals/trunks of specific devices types, e.g. all CO trunks, all tie trunks, all special equipment (APSE), all voice functions, etc.
By default, peripheral SWU alarms are preset by the system. The AMO VADSU can only be used to change threshold values and validation times

Logical SWU alarms (up to 583; alarm nos. 1 to 583) can be divided into the following three groups:

Special alarms

Special alarms (up to 7; alarm nos. 1 to 7) are ’aggregate’ alarms which are used for example to indicate faults in route-specific CO trunks (outgoing/incoming).
By default, special alarms are preset by the system. The AMO VADSU can only be used to change threshold values and validation times.

Alarm numbers 1 and 2 must only be activated alternatively since it is not possible to monitor both incoming/bothway CO trunks (ALARMNO 2) and incoming CO trunks (ALARMNO 1) for trunk failure transfer at the same time.

Directional alarms

Directional alarms (up to 512; alarm nos. 8 to 519) are used to indicate faults in trunk groups consisting of tie trunks, special equipment (APSE) or call charge lines. This means that all trunks of this type (which can be identified by the the fact that they have been set up with a "PEN") can be grouped together by setting up a directional alarm with the AMO VADSU. A single trunk, several trunks, a trunk group configured by the AMO BUEND or an individual group of trunks can be grouped together under one alarm type.
The AMO VADSU can be used to specify threshold values, validation times, priority, HW contact and alarm names.
The AMOs TACSU, TDCSU and TSCSU are used to assign the directional alarm numbers configured by means of the AMO VADSU to "PENs". Since V2.0 it is also possible to assign a directional alarm to a station number. This can be done only via a special DEP procedure.
Trunk groups and individual trunks (only ’incoming’) can also be assigned to a directional alarm, provided they have not been assigned to alarm number 1 or 2 (special alarms) which are used for trunk failure transfer.

Personal alarms

Personal alarms (up to 64; alarm nos. 520 to 583) are used to indicate faults in terminals which have been assigned a station number.
All terminals assigned to a station number (incl. multifunction terminals) are assigned to a particular alarm.
The AMO VADSU can be used to specify threshold values, validation times and alarm names.
The AMOs SBCSU and SCSU are used to assign the personal alarm numbers configured by means of the AMO VADSU to station numbers.

Peripheral alarms

Peripheral SM (Service Module) alarms are used to indicate faults in the SM periphery. They are administered by the AMO VADSM.
