In adaptive working mode, the jitter buffer tries to keep the average
delay as low as possible. In a situation where no jitter effect occurs,
the average delay drops to a minimum. This minimum can be configured
in the HG board. The average delay, which is continuously adapted based
on the current delay measured, ranges between two values: the configurable
minimum delay and the configurable maximum delay. The following diagram
illustrates this:

delay for adaptive jitter buffer
Minimum and maximum delay values are still adhered to if packets are
lost.
