The following T.38-related features are provided with OpenScape 4000
SoftGate:
- Codec switching on the fly
-
The Mediatrix AP 41xx, as well as SIP providers, switch from G.729 to
G.711 codec without signaling. Therefore, payload-based switching on
the fly on the receiving side is supported.
- Jitter buffer improvements
-
With HiPath 4000 V6 a greater buffer is provided for T.38 transmissions.
The buffer size will be switched during a pause (idle) in the media stream.
- Usage of RFC2833 for fax
-
Albeit discouraged, RFC2833 for fax tones is still supported. However,
it is disabled by default. After a software update, the previously configured
value will be preserved.
IMPORTANT:
With some scenarios, the use of RFC2833 for fax
tones may cause problems, so it must be disabled. This is the case with
the following configurations: - A Mediatrix 41xx adapter is connected
to a hardware gateway, and a AP1120 Cornet IP Adapter is used in the
same system. If a DMC shall be established between both adapters, RFC2833
for fax must be disabled. - A SIP service provider which does not support
RFC2833 for fax is connected to a hardware gateway.
