Unfortunately, the correct configuration of the IP addresses of all IPDA components at the time of installation is not all that is required. Restructuring of the IP network of the customer, which also affects the addressing of the IPDA components, is part of day-to-day business.
Whenever an IP address has to be changed, there is no avoiding a brief interruption in operation. In order to minimize the effects for the users of the OpenScape 4000 system, the procedure for changing addresses must be planned meticulously.
In the following scenarios, it is always assumed that the changes involved are changes that affect the entire LAN segment to which the IPDA components are connected, and not just the address of an individual component.
A distinction is made between three cases in this context:
